Some consider Dubai to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and for good reason: it has some of the world’s tallest buildings, a vibrant nightlife, low living costs, and, to top it all off, it is still developing.

Dubai should be on the bucket list of anyone who enjoys traveling and seeing the world in all its splendor.

Getting a job in Dubai from Nigeria requires you to be meticulous and able to read between the lines, especially if you go through an agent.

If you decide to do your own job search, you must be wary of bogus recruitment agencies on the internet.

There have been many stories told.

Dubai is a great place to find a job.

If you are from Nigeria, then you can apply for a visa and get into the country easily.

Getting started…

Steps to Getting a Job in Dubai from Nigeria

Here are the right steps to secure a job in Dubai from Nigeria.

1. Do Your Research

There is a job for you in Dubai, regardless of your education and experience.

Unskilled, semi-skilled, and professional occupations are categorized (skilled).

AED 46,431 is the average yearly wage for several low-skilled jobs in Dubai, including chauffeuring, working as a waiter or waitress in a restaurant, and laundry attendants.

Professionals with average annual salaries of 243,805 AED include doctors, engineers, and lawyers.

2. Seek the Major Entities

In Dubai, there are some businesses that are well known for their stringent hiring procedures and stellar reputations as places to work.

Retail giant Omnicom, cosmetics companies Estee Lauder, Hilti Emirates, THE One, Splash, EMC2, FedEx, Hilton Worldwide, Weber Shandwick Professional Services, and FedEx are among the top 10 of these companies.

3. Know Your Job Market

While the emirate’s overall financial health is improving, not all job markets are ready to rebound.

Some markets where job seekers may find success include:

  • Tech
  • Human resources
  • Hospitality
  • Banking
  • Consulting

Many of the industries mentioned above are doing so well that wages are expected to rise further.

4. Work on Your Resume

Your CV is the single most important tool in your job search.

The job market in Dubai is extremely competitive, and on average, a recruiter will only spend six seconds reviewing your resume.

It’s critical to avoid major CV blunders, like using buzzwords.

5. Create an Online Persona

Your online presence can affect your job search success.

Besides removing potentially harmful posts and images, increase your online activity by creating a resume and filling out jobseeker profiles on sites such as LinkedIn and Bayt.

However, showing some personality by posting about your hobbies or family can be beneficial.

6. Do not apply for jobs for which you are not qualified

Just because you’re enthusiastic about a company doesn’t mean you should apply for jobs that aren’t a good fit for your qualifications.

Hiring managers may interpret disorganized applications as a sign of a candidate who is unsure of what they want and lacks focus.

7. The Dubai Yellow Pages

Most people believe that applying for jobs in Dubai from Nigeria is more sensible and doable.

Prior to beginning your job search and application process, you are not required to pay for any type of visa.

You must conduct an online search for potential employers before you submit your application.

The Dubai Yellow Pages (business directories), which you can access by logging onto yellowpages.ae, are a good place to start.

You could find a list of businesses in Dubai on the free zone websites, which you could access at uaefreezones.com.

Do well to conduct thorough research on each company to determine the validity of their commercial activities and licensing status.

8. Find a job

Before you can find a job in Dubai, you need to identify the best jobs for your skill set.

The following are some of the most common careers for Nigerian applicants:

Accountant

There are many companies that hire accountants from Nigeria, especially if they have previous experience working in an office setting or as an administrator at a large company.

You should apply for jobs at smaller businesses that need help with their books and records management.

Human Resources Manager

If you’re looking for more responsibility than just filling out forms and keeping track of payroll data, then this might be right up your alley!

Human resource managers often work with recruiters and headhunters on specific projects related to hiring new employees—they’re responsible for making sure that everyone has what it takes before bringing them on board (or firing them if necessary).

9. Sites to Visit

Getting a job in Dubai from Nigeria would have required you to invest your money and time in applying to companies with job openings that are open to both residents and international applicants.

  • jobsindubai.com
  • dubbizle.com
  • dubaijobs.com
  • gulfjobsites.com
  • bayt.com
  • jobrapido.com
  • naukri.com

When you successfully land a job from any job site, the first thing you should do is confirm the employer’s legitimacy (s).

After that, establish a rapport with the employer’s representative and do not waste time before requesting a written job contact letter, also known as an employment letter.

10. Employment Visa Application

When your prospective employer issues you written confirmation of a job offer, they begin the employment visa application process on your behalf.

Wait for your employer to complete and apply to sponsor you for a Dubai employment visa.

It should be noted that the employer is also responsible for paying the applicable employment visa processing fees.

The information provided from the beginning of your process must be very accurate, as the United Arab Emirates immigration department will contact you once the information submitted by your employer has been verified.

If you’re planning on coming to Dubai for over 90 days, you’ll likely need an employment contract with your employer before applying for a visa.

You may also be required to show proof of police clearance certificates before getting your visa approved by officials at immigration offices in Dubai or Abu Dhabi (the two major cities where expats live in the UAE).

These can be obtained from any police station within Nigeria’s borders; however, some embassies might require them during their process as well, so check ahead first!

Once the employment letter is granted, your employer will begin getting your employment visa right away.

Wait patiently for your employer to complete and apply for your Dubai employment visa sponsorship.

Your employer would be fully responsible for paying for the employment visa and any processing fees.

You will be contacted by the United Arab Emirates immigration department for verification as soon as this is completed.

As a result, it is critical that you provide your employer with accurate information.

UAE Visa Application Requirements

The visa requirements for the United Arab Emirates are:

  • An invitation letter from the company you wish to work with in Dubai.
  • This should be addressed directly to a branch manager or HR representative at their main office in Abu Dhabi.
  • A copy of your passport and an original hotel reservation confirmation, if applicable.
  • You may also need proof of financial resources (or proof that you have access to funds).

After the application, processing times vary depending on which country you’re traveling from, but it’s likely that a new visa will take anywhere between three days and two weeks (three weeks is rare).

Dubai Work Visa Requirements for Nigerians

As a Nigerian looking to work in Dubai, you should know you will need a Dubai work visa.

There are three basic requirements for obtaining a Dubai work visa that will allow you to work and stay in Dubai for two (2) years:

1. Health Card

Getting a health card is one of the three primary requirements for obtaining a Dubai work visa.

You must have a medical examination that includes a chest X-ray and a blood test to rule out serious diseases such as hepatitis C, HIV, and tuberculosis.

You must apply to the Department of Health and Medical Services with your medical records, passport photocopies, two passport-size photos, employment offer verification, and the employment visa application (completed by your employer).

This is to ensure you receive your health card.

You should know if you test positive for any of the serious diseases, you cannot get a residence visa.

As a result, you cannot work in Dubai.

2. Labour Card

You must visit the Dubai Ministry of Labour office to submit the paperwork in order to get a labor card.

A passport-sized photo, three (3) copies of your employment offer (contract), your medical records, the employer’s labor license, and your entry visa must all be submitted with the paperwork.

3. Residence Permit

In order to be eligible for a Dubai work visa, applicants must meet the third of three essential criteria.

In order to meet the requirements for working in Dubai, you must go to the Dubai General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs.

The residence visa application form will be provided to you, and you must complete it in its entirety there and then.

You will also need to bring an original copy of your passport, an original copy of your entry permit, an original copy of your health certificate or medical records, an original copy of your labor card (or labor card processing receipts), and two (2) passport-sized photos.
