NDDC Scholarship
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is embarking on Foreign Post Graduate Scholarship Programme to equip Niger Deltans with relevant training and skills for effective participation in the local content programme of the current administration as well as compete globally in various professional disciplines.
The scheme is for suitably qualified applicants, with relevant Bachelor’s/Master’s Degrees from recognized universities in these professional disciplines:
- Agricultural Sciences
- Engineering
- Environmental Sciences
- Geosciences
- Information Technology
- Law
- Management Sciences
- Medicine
- Architecture
- Hospitality Management
The amount of the NDDC scholarship depends on the level of study and the country where the studies are being undertaken.
For a Master’s degree program in a foreign university, the scholarship covers:
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation
- Living expenses
- Travel allowance
- Book allowance
- Research allowance
The total scholarship is based on the prevailing exchange rate of the Naira.
This year, the scholarship is worth about ₦30 million.
For a PhD program at a foreign university, the scholarship covers:
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation
- Living expenses
- Travel allowance
- Book allowance
- Research allowance
- Thesis allowance
The total scholarship is based on the prevailing exchange rate of the Naira.
This year, the scholarship is worth about ₦40 million.
NDDC Scholarship Requirements
Here are the eligibility requirements for the NDDC scholarship:
- First Degree with minimum of 2nd Class-Lower division for those wishing to undertake a Master’s Programme.
- Applicants must have gained admission for a Post-Graduate Programme in any of the listed disciplines above, in a Foreign University.
- Applicants who have already enrolled in overseas’ universities are NOT eligible to apply.
- Guarantor’s written consent of moral conduct of the applicant from the applicant’s community/clan.
- Persons with evidence of cult membership or criminal record shall not be considered.
- Applicants must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
- All the applicants must come from the Niger Delta Region.
Mode of Application
- Application must be made online at the commission’s website with a recent passport photograph, local government identification letter, post graduate admission letter from a recognized oversea university/relevant degrees from recognized universities, and NYSC discharge/exemption certificate.
- Successfully complete application form will be assigned a registration number automatically.
- Print the hard copy of online generated acknowledgement for ease of reference.
- All shortlisted applicants will be posted on the NDDC website.
All completed applications must be submitted on 30th October 2024 from publication.
NDDC will not enter any form of communication with candidates who were not shortlisted for the Computer-Based Test (CBT), those who were not invited for oral interview or candidates that were unsuccessful during the oral interviews.
Preferences will be given to candidates from oil producing host/communities/local government areas as long as candidates meet the approved cut off mark.
The commission will ensure a fair spread of courses amongst beneficiaries within each state.
Deferment, change of institution and course are not permitted.
The commission reserves the sole and absolute discretion to select in line with the above stated criteria and its internal consideration.
The decision of the commission is final.
How to Apply for NDDC Scholarship
Here are the steps to apply for the NDDC scholarship online:
- Visit the NDDC website and click on the “Scholarships” tab.
- Click on the “2024 Foreign/Local Post-Graduate Scholarship,” link.
- Read the eligibility criteria and instructions carefully.
- Download the application form and fill it out completely.
- Attach the required supporting documents.
- Submit the application form to the NDDC office in your state.

Test Format
The NDDC scholarship test is a computer-based test (CBT) that is administered in each state of the Niger Delta region.
The test assesses the candidate’s academic ability and aptitude for postgraduate studies.
The test is divided into two sections:
- General Aptitude: This section tests the candidate’s general knowledge and problem-solving skills. The questions in this section are drawn from a variety of subjects, including English, mathematics, and general science.
- Discipline-specific: This section tests the candidate’s knowledge and skills in their chosen discipline.
- The questions in this section are specific to the discipline that the candidate has applied for.
- The total number of questions in the test is 50 or 60, and the total time allowed for the test is 60 minutes.
The passing score for the test is 70%.
