DStv Self Service

You can use DStv self service from your cellphone, tablet or desktop computer to clear error messages, update your details and manage payments conveniently.

DStv self-service can be assessed either via USSD or via the online portal with your unique identification modules.

In order to access DStv self service online, connect to an internet service.

Once connected to the internet, visit DStv My account page.

Once there, input your login details.

Enter password and after that, you should be logged on to your dashboard, where you can carry out a lot of operations.

How to Activate DStv After Payment (Self Service)

Here are the ways to reset and activate your DStv after payment:

1. SMS

• Open your phone’s text message app.
• Type RESET, leave a space, and type your DStv smartcard number/decoder IUC number.
• Send the message to 30333.
• You will receive a confirmation message informing you that the request is being processed.
• DStv will restore all channels in your package in less than 15 minutes.

2. USSD

• Dial *288*2# and select 1.
• Enter your DStv smartcard number and username.
• Select the option for fixing errors.
• Select the “E16” error and press the call button.

3. Decoder

• Place a finger on the DStv decoder’s RESET button and another on the Standby button.
• Press the buttons at the same time.
• The DStv decoder display panel will show “dL.”
• Long press the TV/Audio and the P+ buttons simultaneously.
• Hold on to the buttons until the decoder displays the words “done.”
• Your decoder and channels have been reset successfully.

4. MyDStv App

• Install MyDStv app on the Google play store for Android or iPhone Store for Apple users.
• Open the app and sign up using your decoder registration information, i.e. your IUC number, name, phone number, email, etc.
• After sign up, you can now login to manage your account.

5. Self Service Portal

• Visit DStv self-service portal.
• Click Fix Errors.
• Enter your surname or mobile number and DStv smartcard number.
• Click on Sign in.
• Click Fix Errors.
• Enter your DStv smartcard number in the dialogue box provided.
• Select the DStv reset code “E16” from the displayed error codes.
• Enter the text displayed in the captcha box.
• Click on Fix Error.

Before resetting, make sure you have renewed your DStv subscription (made payments), connect your decoder to the power source and connect the smartcard to the decoder.

How to Clear DStv Error Messages

Here are the ways to clear an error code that prevents you from viewing a channel on DStv.

1. E16

Smartcard is not enabled for this channel.

The channel may not be included in your subscription packages, or your subscription has expired.

View your payment history in your profile, and if there are any discrepancies, contact MultiChoice customer care for further assistance.

2. E05

This indicates a Smartcard problem.

It may be damaged, unreadable, or inserted incorrectly.

Remove the card and clean it with a cloth before reinserting it.

If that does not work, visit the nearest centre to have the card replaced.

3. E18

This is an encryption error that typically occurs when the account is activated.

It may be caused by using the wrong smart card or inserting it incorrectly.

If that is not the case, try restarting the decoder or calling MultiChoice Nigeria to reset it.

4. E19

This means that your decoder has been disconnected.

Contact customer care through the hotline number, Twitter or Facebook.

5. E30/E32

The service is suspended, or the subscription status is being checked.

Renew your account and reactivate after payment.
