Fashion Accessories Types and ExamplesFashion accessories mean something which is used as secondary manner besides the wearer outfit, often used to complete an outfit and chosen to specifically complement the wearers look.

It can further express an individual’s identity and personality as there are accessories that come in different shapes, sizes, hues.

Even after wearing a nice dress without proper accessories, everything can be ruined.

It is used often to complete an outfit properly.

Fashion Accessories Types

Fashion accessory is mainly divided into two categories:

  • Worn accessories
  • Carried accessories

1. Worn Accessories

As name shows, worn accessory is used by wearing.

The various worn accessories include:

Anklets

An anklet is an ornament worn around an ankle.

Some people like to wear the anklet loose so that it hangs way below the ankle, but some like to wear it tighter around the ankle.

Bangles and Bracelets

Bangles and bracelets are fashion accessories worn around the wrist.

The difference between a bangle and a bracelet is that a bangle is a solid, one-piece band that is worn on the wrist and that does not have a clasp or opening.

Bracelets have a clasp so that they can be opened around the wrist, and they are flexible.

Bracelets can be circular or elliptical.

Bangles are solid pieces of jewelry, whereas bracelets are much more flexible and are usually based around a chain or strand that is draped around the wrist and closed with a clasp.

Belts

A belt is an accessory you wear around your waist; it helps to tighten the waistband of the garment you are wearing along with it and keep it in place, almost holding it up.

It is also worn to carry something (such as tools).

Brooches and Pins

Brooches and pins are traditionally used as fastenings, holding folds of fabric together.

Pins, when attached with an ornament on top, it becomes a brooch.

Brooches can also be worn as a decorative accessory.

Cuff Links and Studs

A cuff link is a piece of jewelry that inserts into a buttonhole to fasten a shirt cuff around the wrist.

Studs comprise an ornamental head fixed to a protruding pin or knob; front and back connect using a detachable clasp.

Earrings

An earring is a fashion accessory worn on the earlobe, usually through an ear piercing.

Earrings are worn by both sexes and have been used by different civilizations at different times a ring or other small ornament for the lobe of the ear, either passed through a hole pierced in the lobe or fastened with a screw or clip.

Eyeglasses

Eyeglasses are the most common type of eyewear worn for correcting or assisting defective eyesight, especially a monocle – it comprises a frame that holds two pieces of glass or plastic.

Gloves

A glove is an accessory used to cover the hand, fully or partially – it has the purpose of protecting the hand from contamination injury cold, etc.

In wedding attire and other ceremonies, gloves serve a decorative purpose.

Hair Accessories

Hair accessories are functional or ornamental objects wrapped, tied, twisted, inserted, or otherwise attached to the hair. These include hairbands, hair bows, tic-tac clips, bobby pins, hair barrettes.

Hats

A hat is a head covering which is worn for various reasons, including protection against weather, ceremonial reasons such as university graduation, religious reasons, safety, or as a fashion accessory.

Helmets

Helmet is a hard or padded protective hat, various types of which are worn by soldiers, police officers, motorcyclists, sports players, and others.

A helmet complements the skull in protecting the human brain.

Necklaces and Pendants

Necklaces are accessories worn around the neck. Necklaces can be short or long; they can be paired with pendants and lockets.

Necklaces could be a simple chain with a lone pendant or studded fully with pearls and beads; minimalist or statement; made of plastic or metal.

They are one of the most important accessories that can enhance the face and body of men and women.

Perfumes

Perfume is a fragrant liquid typically made from essential oils extracted from flowers and spices, used to give a pleasant smell to one’s body.

It is a substance, extract, or preparation for diffusing or imparting an agreeable or attractive smell, especially a fluid containing fragrant natural.

Perfumes are supposed to be the finishing accessory – the thing that compliments everything else as a final touch.

Rings

A ring is a circular band worn on a finger.

Sandals

Sandal is a light shoe with either openwork upper or straps attaching the sole to the foot.

Sashes

A sash is a long strip or loop of cloth worn over one shoulder or round the waist, especially as part of a uniform or official dress.

Scarves

A scarf is a broad band of cloth worn about the shoulders, around the neck, or over the head for warmth, sun protection, cleanliness, fashion, or religious reasons.

Shoes

A shoe is a covering for the foot, typically made of leather, having a sturdy sole and not reaching above the ankle.

Once worn only to protect feet from cold and injuries, a comfortable and trendy shoe is now regarded as an integral part of a well-dressed look – some might even claim that shoes are the best accessory of all.

Socks

A sock is a garment for the foot and lower part of the leg, typically knitted from wool, cotton, or nylon.

It is a piece of clothing made from a soft material that covers and protects the feet and your foot and the lower part of your leg.

So, socks are very important accessory to wear.

Sunglasses

Sunglasses are protective eyewear meant to shield eyes from damaging ultraviolet (UV) rays.

Other than its highly functional use, sunglass (shades) is a great accessory that can change the way you look.

Ties

Tie is a strip of material worn round the collar and tied in a knot at the front with the ends hanging down, typically forming part of a man’s smart or formal outfit.

Veils

A veil is a piece of fine material worn by women to protect or conceal the head, face, or shoulder fully.

Other than for religious purposes, the veils are used nowadays as a wedding accessory.

Watches

A watch is a portable timepiece intended to be carried or worn by a person.

It keeps a consistent movement despite the motions caused by the person’s activities.

It’s not so important how nice the watch is, but which one is looking more beautiful after worn by you it is the important point.

2. Carried Accessories

Handkerchiefs

Handkerchief is a small piece of linen, silk, or other fabric, usually square, and used especially for wiping one’s nose, eyes, face, etc., or for decorative purposes.

Luggage

Luggage is suitcases or other bags in which to pack belongings for travelling.

Luggage can be coordinated and customized to suit one’s personality and preference and can enhance your style.

Purses (Wallets) and Handbags

A purse is a small pouch for carrying minor items and is carried by hand.

A wallet is a flat purse with separate slots for keeping money and several cards.

Simple leather wallets are considered being a very stylish accessory by both men and women.

Umbrella

Umbrella is a useful and device comprising a circular canopy of cloth on a folding metal frame supported by a central rod, used as protection against rain.

As something that many use on a daily use, it has its own place as an accessory.
