1. UBA National Essay Competition

The National Essay Competition, targeted at senior secondary students in Nigeria, is organized annually, as part of the UBA Foundation’s education initiative, which aims to promote the reading culture and encourage healthy and intellectual competition amongst secondary school students in Nigeria and across Africa.

Selection Criteria and Eligibility

• Must be in Senior Secondary school.
• Must submit a handwritten essay (750 words max).
• Must submit a passport photograph.
• Must submit a scanned copy of a means of identification (birth certificate, National ID, or passport).

2. MTN Scholarship

Top 10 UTME Scholarship, which began in 2020, is the latest addition to the MTN Scholarships.

Every year, the top 10 scoring candidates of UTME, as announced by JAMB, automatically qualify for the top 10 UTME scholarships.

The successful candidates are awarded scholarships worth ₦200,000 from their 100 level through to graduation if they maintain the required grades.

The Top 10 UTME Scholarship is awarded irrespective of the successful candidates’ preferred course of study or tertiary institution, public or private, in Nigeria.

It is worthy of note that the MTN Foundation has awarded over N3Billion in scholarships to 4,212 students from inception to date.

Upon graduation, each scholar takes part in the MTNF Skill Up Training to ensure they are well equipped to compete and add value to Nigeria’s labour market.

The Omega Power Ministry (OPM) scholarship is a fully funded scholarship sponsored by the founder and overseer, Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, to provide financial help to students who wish to study abroad.

The scholarship covers the cost of tuition, airfare, room and board, and other expenses.

It is open to students of all majors and backgrounds.

The scholarship offers underprivileged Nigerians the opportunity to study both locally and internationally.

The Sir Emeka Offor Foundation believes that education is the cornerstone of our future.

A multi-facted approach to education includes a scholarship programme that provides comprehensive university scholarships to academically gifted but poor students.

To date, over 120 scholarships have been granted.

When a recipient graduates first in his or her class, the student will receive a car and will be offered full-time employment within the Chrome Group of Companies.

5. Oando Scholarship

The Oando Scholars Programme annually awards scholarships to the three best performing final year students from each adopted school to ease their transition to secondary school.

The award covers tuition where applicable and other expenses, which include transportation, study materials and uniforms.

The programme supports children who have excelled in their academics to transfer to secondary school whilst building a culture of excellence among children in Oando adopted schools.

Scholars are identified by the Foundation in partnership with the SUBEB, school heads, representatives of SBMCs, and Local Government Education Authorities.

They are selected based on an aggregate of their primary five (5) and primary six (6) results (continuous assessment and exam) and the State-level secondary school placement examinations.

Awardees must maintain an annual average performance of 70% in all subjects to remain in the scheme.

The foundation has awarded 1,102 scholarships to date.
