Idols South Africa Host and Coaches [Judges]

To make the program stand out from the rest, the organizer of the program will engage some panel of judges.

On Idols South Africa, expect to see the likes of Thembi Seete, JR Bogopa, and Somizi Mhlongo as judges with Tebogo ‘ProVerb’ Thekisho serving as host.

Idols South Africa Registration Requirements 

Here are the eligibility requirements for Idols SA:

  • You must be between 16 and 30 years of age on the day of your audition.
  • You must be a citizen or permanent resident of South Africa and in possession of a valid South African ID document.
  • You may not have an existing recording or management deal that hinders you from fully taking part in the competition.
  • If you are below 19 years old, your parents or guardians need to sign the Contributor’s Release Form to show their consent.
  • Have an active mobile phone number.
  • Have an active email address where you can receive messages for the audition.
  • You do not need management, merchandising, recording, or music publishing contracts for you to participate in the program.
  • Must record and upload a 30-second video of you singing.
  • You are not allowed to talk in your video clip, and you only have to sing.
  • You must behave professionally. Remember that the judge’s verdict is final. Your audition is likely to appear on television (Mzansi Magic) regardless of whether you will be called to audition for the judges or not.
  • You must accurately complete all documents provided by the Producer, any of the other Program Entities, or any other entity providing services to the Program.

Steps to Apply and Audition for Idols South Africa 

  • Visit Idols South Africa website.
  • On the site, in order to continue, click and enter via the registration banner displayed.
  • Once you’ve done that, you’ll be redirected to the audition registration form which will be displayed on your screen.
  • Fill in your personal details such as your full names, date of birth, email address.
  • Click on “NEXT” as soon as you are done entering your bio data. A new page will open where you’ll have to answer some questions.
  • Click on “NEXT” as soon as you are done answering the questions. A new page will open where you are to upload your singing audition (please have this ready before completing the form).
  • Your audition should not be longer than 30 seconds, so choose the part of your song that best shows off your voice.
  • You may upload a file up to 100 Mb. Supported Files to Upload: *.mov, *.flv, *.f4v, *.m4v, *.mp4, *.avi, *.mpeg, *.mpg, *.mkv, *.wmv
  • No talking, only singing should be in your audition video.
  • Perform the song without accompaniment, instruments or a backtrack – remember the Judges are here to listen to your singing only.
  • Please do NOT upload music videos, produced singing or tracks, live performance videos in front of an audience.
  • Post your YouTube/Vimeo (unlisted) link or upload your video.
  • After that, click on “SUBMIT” to complete and finish your registration.
  • Should your audition be successful, you will be invited to audition in person in front of the Idols South Africa judges at a specific venue/location.

When and where will Audition Take Place?

Online auditions for Idols SA Season 20 start from February 11th 2024 to February 25th 2024 or once 15,000 entries is reached via the Mzansi Magic website.
