Final Words

Update and modification of names are available for applicants (particularly ladies) who got married or divorced after they enrolled into the National Identity Database (NIDB) and issued the National Identification Number (NIN).

The service which is also available to applicants who erroneously supplied wrong names, changed names or wish to update any of their addresses/telephone numbers can be got from any of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) enrolment centres nationwide.

To get this service, visit any of the commissions’ enrolment centre to make enquiries or show the type of data to change or update and why.

A designated officer will ask relevant questions on the update to be made and give you a list of the requisite relevant documents to be supplied for this purpose.

This may include your NIN, marriage certificate, divorce papers, birth certificate, court affidavit, newspaper publication, etc.

Pay the service charge via the Remita Platform.

Upon payment and confirmation of fees via the RRR (Remita Retrieval Reference), you are given an enrolment and modification form to fill.

Your data is captured and the NIN slip is reissued with the changed data after the completed form is verified by the enrolment Centre Supervisor.
