Do you want to know the steps and requirements for RM to BSc Nursing in Nigeria?

If YES, then this is the only post to read.

Getting started…

RM to BSc Nursing in Nigeria

To transition from being a Registered Midwife (RM) to getting a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing) in Nigeria, you can pursue a Post-Basic Nursing program.

The Post-Basic Nursing program is designed for individuals who have already completed a basic nursing program, such as General Nursing or Midwifery, and want to further their education and get a BSc in Nursing.

Here are the general steps involved:

1. Research and Choose a School

Look for schools or universities in Nigeria that offer Post-Basic Nursing programs leading to a BSc in Nursing.

Ensure that the program is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), the regulatory body for nursing education in Nigeria.

2. Meet Admission Requirements

Each institution may have specific admission requirements for their Post-Basic Nursing program.

These requirements can include holding a valid RM license, having a minimum number of years of clinical experience as an RM, providing academic transcripts and certificates from the basic nursing program, and fulfilling any other criteria set by the institution.

Carefully review the admission requirements of the school you are interested in and ensure that you meet the criteria.

3. Apply for Admission

Get and complete the application form for the Post-Basic Nursing program at your chosen institution.

Submit the application form along with the supporting documents within the specified time frame.

Pay attention to the application deadline and any required application fees.

4. Complete the Program

Once admitted, you will undergo the Post-Basic Nursing program, which typically takes two years to complete.

The program will comprise theoretical coursework, practical training, and clinical rotations, building upon the knowledge and skills gained during your RM training.

The curriculum will cover advanced nursing concepts, research, leadership, and other relevant topics.

5. Get BSc in Nursing

Upon successful completion of the program, you will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing) degree.

This will enable you to expand your career opportunities and professional advancement as a nurse.
