This differs from the traditional Basic Nursing program, which is for individuals who have completed secondary education.

Here is the process for direct entry into the School of Nursing in Nigeria:

1. Get the Qualifications

To be eligible for direct entry into the School of Nursing in Nigeria, have a minimum of five (5) credits in relevant subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, in not over two sittings.

Have a recognized higher education qualification, such as a university degree or its equivalent.

2. Research and Choose a School

Look for Schools of Nursing in Nigeria that offer direct entry programs.

Ensure that the school is recognized and accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), the regulatory body for nursing education in the country.

Consider factors such as the school’s reputation, accreditation status, program duration, and location.

3. Meet the Admission Requirements

Each School of Nursing may have specific admission requirements for their direct entry program.

6. Get Certification and Licensure

Direct Entry Requirements for Nursing

Here are the requirements to study nursing via direct entry in Nigeria:

• Must be Registered Nurses (RN) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
• Must have passed the Advanced level General Certificate of Education (GCE) in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in only two sittings are also eligible to apply.
• Completed the O’level requirements of five credit passes in at least five subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry, in only two sittings, and to have passed the university screening test.

After admission, DE candidates admitted to the four-year program may be required to take specific courses to make up for deficiencies in their academic background, if applicable.
