JAMB Change of Course and Institution
The JAMB change of course and institution form is an opportunity for students to change their JAMB profile after registration and the release of the examination results.
This includes changes to their course, institution, name, date of birth, gender, and local government area (LGA).
You do not need an OTP code for the JAMB change of course or institution of choice.
The application is at the CBT centre or on the JAMB portal login page.
It will cost you two thousand five hundred Naira (₦2,500) to purchase the JAMB change of institution and course of choice.
There are two categories of students who apply for the JAMB correction of data form:
1. New JAMB Applicants
Students who wrote the recent JAMB examinations can use the JAMB correction of data form to change their institution and course of choice after their results are released.
This form is not available on the JAMB website or in cyber cafes.
Visit a JAMB CBT centre to apply for the correction of data in your JAMB profile.
2. Undergraduate Students
Undergraduates are students in universities, polytechnics, or colleges of education.
You can apply for the correction of data on the JAMB profile portal using your phone or at a cybercafé to change your institution, course, name, gender, and local government area (LGA).
JAMB Data Correction Closing Date
There is no specific date for the JAMB data correction form.
You can apply for the change of data after your JAMB result is out.
Undergraduate students can apply anytime for the correction of their data.
You may do the JAMB change of institution and course twice.
JAMB Change of Institution
JAMB change of institution is a service offered by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) that allows candidates to change the institution they applied to for admission into a higher institution.
The JAMB change of institution form allows you to change your school of choice in your JAMB profile.
It will enable you to change your institution’s first, second and third choices.
This service is available to candidates who have not yet been offered admission into any institution.
With the change of institution form, you can change from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) to the University of Nigeria.
Also, you can change to another Polytechnic or College of Education.
There are a few reasons you might want to change your institution.
You may have changed your mind about the course you want to study, or you may not have met the cut-off mark for your first choice institution.
To apply for a change of institution and course on the JAMB portal, follow these steps:
- Visit the JAMB CBT registration centre.
- Inform the CBT officer you want to apply for a change of course or institution.
- Fill out the data correction at the CBT centre.
- Pay a processing fee of ₦2,500.
- Provide your JAMB profile code.
- Thumbprint with the fingerprint reader.
- Confirm the recent changes on your JAMB profile code.
- Get the printout for your fresh course or institution.
If your application is approved, you will be notified by JAMB, who will then need to contact your second choice institution and complete your admission process.
When applying for a change of institution:
- You can only change to an institution that offers the course you applied for.
- You need to meet the cut-off mark for the institution you are applying to.
- You need to have a valid JAMB registration number.
JAMB Change of Course
The JAMB change of course form lets you change the course you applied for on JAMB.
Some students will need to change their department of choice after their JAMB result is out.
This is because they may not have met the cut-off mark for their first choice course, or they may have decided that they want to study a different course.
It is also mandatory to change course if your school of choice offers you admission to a different department.
JAMB Change of Name
JAMB change of name allows candidates to change their names on their JAMB profile.
This service is available to candidates who JAMB profile names do not tally with the name in their WAEC or NECO results, those that made a mistake in their name during registration and have legally changed their name.
To apply for a JAMB change of name, create a JAMB profile and then log in to your account.
Once you are logged in, click on the “Correction of Data” tab and select “Names” from the drop-down menu.
Enter your JAMB registration number, the examination year, old name, and new name.
Pay a processing fee of ₦2,500.
Once the application has been submitted, JAMB will review it and change your name.
The entire process usually takes about 2 weeks.
You can only change your name once.
If you need to change your name again, reapply for a JAMB change of name and pay the processing fee again.
JAMB Change of Gender
The JAMB change of gender form allows you to change your gender profile from male to female or vice versa.
This form is necessary if there was an error entering your gender during the JAMB registration process.
JAMB Change of State and Local Government of Origin
The JAMB change of state and local government or origin is for students who want to change their JAMB profile.
How to Apply for JAMB Data Correction
The JAMB data correction application form allows you to change your course, institution, name, gender and state/LGA.
Here are the steps to purchase the JAMB data correction change of course and institution form:
- Open your phone or PC browser.
- Visit the JAMB portal.
- Enter your email address and password.
- Click on Login to access your JAMB profile account.
- Select your JAMB examination year.
- Click on the sidebar menu at the top of your screen.
- Select Application for Correction of Data (Exam year downward).
- Click on the type of correction of data you want to do on the JAMB portal.
- Select your examination year.
- Enter your JAMB registration number.
- Click on the search details button.
- Generate payment invoice on Remita.
- Make payments using your ATM card.
- Return to the JAMB portal to correct your data.
How to Change Phone Number in JAMB Profile
Changing your phone number on your JAMB profile is free.
To do this, go to a JAMB CBT centre and provide an affidavit stating that you have misplaced your former phone number.
Once you have provided the affidavit, the JAMB staff will change your phone number in your profile.
The entire process should take only 30 minutes.
JAMB Change of Name Rejection
Here are the reasons your change of name was rejected by JAMB:
- You did not provide enough documentation. In order to change your name on your JAMB profile, you must provide proof of your new name. This could be a copy of your birth certificate, marriage certificate, or court order.
- Your change of name is not legitimate. If you are changing your name for fraudulent purposes, JAMB will not approve your change of name.
- You have already changed your name once. You can only change your name on your JAMB profile once.
How to Know If Your Change of Institution was Successful
After the JAMB change of course, institution, name, and date of birth, it would take a few days to about a week for your changes on the JAMB portal to reflect on your profile so you can register for the Post UTME screening.
Here are the ways to know if your change of institution was successful:
- Log in to your JAMB profile and check your “My Choices” tab. If your change of institution was successful, you will see the new institution listed under your choices.
- Check the JAMB CAPS portal. If your change of institution was successful, you will see the new institution listed under your choices on the JAMB CAPS portal.
- Contact your new institution. Once you have submitted your change of institution request, contact your new institution to confirm that they have received your request and that they have accepted your change.
